History
Most reference the Clancy Brothers for this tune, which calling it Traditional. I was reminded of it when I heard Cantarra singing it - it was very much like the first version I heard, which was either by the Ennis Sisters or Figgy Duff (maybe it was the Cottars?)... Has also been performed by the Cottars, who advertise it as trad. Here is the reference;
